As was the case with my 'Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #343' post from last week, owing to my having to publish an extra post today, by way of fulfilling my commitment to this year's "Countdown To Halloween" month-long blogathon, I'm going to have to delay my coverage of all the Roku-specific and/or Roku-related news from the past seven days until I can find the time to catch-up on what's "missing" from this first edition of the current 'Weekly RoundUp' post. As I've done in the past, under such circumstances, I have (at least) managed to provide you with a complete list of all the latest new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store from the past week. With any luck I'll be able to compile these introductory paragraphs of news bit-by-bit, over the course of the next few days, so if you check this post again later in the week, you should find it's been updated! ;-) :-D
Anyway, with no Roku-related news to share with you at this time, I'm (instead) going to focus on the equally important matter of bringing you details for all the latest new Roku channels (apps) which were released during the seven days since my last 'Weekly RoundUp' post was published and, with a decent crop of eighty-six new channels to browse, that should be more than enough to keep you occupied while I assemble the odd snippets of Roku-related news I found for you in the last week! :-)
Before I get into the current list of channels, however, I would just like to point-out that the ongoing issue of "missing" reviews from the 'Roku Guide' website appears to have worsened (yet again) since my previous article for this blog. Over the last forty-one weeks, my 'Weekly RoundUp' posts have seen a total of 4,147 new channels added. Meanwhile, the number of 'Roku Guide' reviews being published during that time has continued to fall short of the mark. Quite how they managed to only produce 11 reviews, with just six from the current week; and two more from last week, along with; three US-only channels, when there were upwards of 86+ new Roku channels released in the past seven days, is beyond me! Unfortunately, this can't be seen as being an exception to the rule... because, digging through their archives, it soon becomes clear this has been happening all too frequently. Looking at all of the articles they've published since the start of the year, there has been a total of only 1,045 new reviews added to their website. So, with a minimum of eighty more "missing" reviews from the past week, they remain more than seventy percent short of where they should be and, if this continues, there could be hundreds (if not thousands) more Roku channels with no corresponding independent review for me to provide a link from each of the 'Weekly RoundUp' posts on my blog. I hope this shortfall is addressed soon because, as mentioned 37 weeks ago, the current situation isn't good for anyone connected to Roku: be they end-users, developers, bloggers like myself, or even Roku - whose platform is the source 'Roku Guide' use to compile their reviews! :-O
Still, back to the list... which, as always, will help you to identify the very latest apps that have been added to Roku devices in the UK. Other websites offering Roku channel listings will base their contents on the Roku USA Channel Store, which means they also include apps that are unavailable to UK Roku users. So, like I've said before... if you really want to know what's available channel-wise, for owners of Roku devices in the UK, you need to be reading this blog each and every week! ;-) :-)

PLEASE NOTE:- That, in contrast to the title of "Workour Time" which is displayed in capital letters across the middle of the above channel icon (aka 'HD Poster' image) for this Roku app, the actual name that has been assigned to it in the Roku Channel Store is "It's Workout Time!" so (presumably?) there has been an error made by the developer when illustrating the title for the purposes of the icon. Given how they have released multiple apps with (very) similar-looking 'HD Poster' images, and not even bothered to assign a Roku Channel Store category (i.e. genre) for more than half of them, with others (e.g. their new 'Crazy World Food' channel) being filed under a category which isn't in keeping with their content - unless someone can explain why 'Crazy World Food' is in the "Games" category - theirs would appear to be a rather slap-dash approach to Roku channel development. Hopefully this is something they can address in due course... both with any future apps, and by way of updating their current batch of new Roku channel releases, because (if not) it could easily backfire on them. I mean, if they're that careless with the basics (i.e. the naming, plus the associated 'HD Poster' image, and the channel store category assigned to their apps) there is little to suggest that the content therein would be any better. There's a reason why so much stock is put in "first impressions" and, in terms of the apps from the Roku Channel Store, the first impression you (as an end user) get of a channel is the 'HD Poster' image displayed for that Roku app. Needless to say, I "passed" on the opportunity to install this particular channel and, until such a time as they take steps to improve their approach to Roku channel development, I very much doubt that I'll be adding anything else by this developer! :-/

PLEASE NOTE:- That, aside from failing to include the exclamation mark on the Roku channel icon (aka 'HD Poster' image) which is clearly present in the name assigned to this app in the Roku Channel Store (as well as the URL-ending associated with it on the Roku website), the developer has decided not to attach a channel store category to this (and other) app(s) which they submitted to Roku prior to their inclusion among the selection of streaming channels available for install. Given their seemingly slap-dash approach (as mentioned in respect of the "It's Workout Time!" channel, outlined above) to Roku channel development, and their tendency to assign somewhat unorthodox categories to the apps they release, I would not like to speculate as to which genre (i.e. category) of the Roku Channel Store this is likely to end-up in... if they ever do decide to give it a "permanent" home on the Roku platform but, since they appear to favour the "Games" category whenever they do make the effort, that would certainly be one possible outcome. Again, I'd suggest avoiding this until they've sorted their act out!

As with other examples, elsewhere in this list, I'd advise giving this one a miss until they fix things! :-|

The earlier release, filed within the 'Web Video' category (i.e. genre) of the channel store, featured on this blog as part of my 'Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #329' post, which I published in June of this year. At the time of writing neither one has an accompanying 'Roku Guide' review to provide an independent overview of the channel(s) so, if you wish to know more about either of them, please click on the links (below, and to the left of the channel icon) in their respective post(s). Anyone with an interest in these channels should also be aware that, while the original app was both free-to-add and free-to-stream, this "premium" version has an associated subscription fee of £2.99 PER MONTH so, given they have identical channel icons, be sure to check if the app you are about to install is the one that is free, or the one that requires a monthly payment to be made from your Roku account! ;-)

PLEASE NOTE:- That, as with other new apps from this developer which (somehow) found their way into the Roku Channel Store during the last seven days, this 'Tips for packing a Suitcases' app was (for reasons best known to the developer) not assigned a permanent category (i.e. genre) within the Roku Channel Store and - at the time of writing - remains "uncategorised" and, therefore, now only available among the 'Just Added' channels, or by searching for it directly by name, until such a time as the developer sees fit to update the app and give it a permanent "home" on the Roku platform. Aside from the lack of a channel store category, there are (once again) discrepancies with this channel over the title assigned to it in the Roku Channel Store (itself featuring the incorrect use of a plural noun) and the one displayed across the channel icon (aka 'HD Poster' image) for this app. As with other examples, elsewhere in this list, I'd also advise giving this one a miss until they fix things! :-|

PLEASE NOTE:- That this latest 'Bar Room Beauties' channel should not be confused with an earlier app release, going by the name of 'Bar Room Babes' in the channel store, that was featured as part of my 'Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #339' post at the beginning of last month. The icon (aka 'HD Poster' image) used for each of the apps is virtually identical, with only the (slightly) altered wording of the title displayed across both icon(s) to give an indication that there is any difference between them. Since they each require payment of a £1.49 per month subscription fee, I can't say if it's the same content across the two… but, given the fact that 'New Age Studios' are also credited as the developer for both versions, there are enough similarities for me to believe it's another case of channel-cloning with a view to "spamming" the Roku Channel Store with multiple copies of the same app. Let's hope Roku put a stop to this sort of behaviour... and sooner, rather than later! :-/ :-|

PLEASE NOTE:- That, although this new 'FLYX' channel is FREE-TO-ADD to your Roku device(s) and there's no mention that it "May require additional fees" in the description from the Roku Channel Store, the fact they describe it as "a leading premium streaming service", without specifically stating that it's free to the end-user, suggests to me that it could require some form of payment to be made in order to view part (or all) of the content therein. Should that prove to be the case, and extra charges are indeed levied, I would expect the developer to update their listing in the channel store so as to include an appropriate warning about the potential for Pay-Per-View (PPV) fees! :-( :-|
