Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts On Roku - Day 07: Horror Series Beginning With The Letter 'G' !!

Greetings, Boils & Ghouls...

... and welcome to 'Day Seven' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku" where I aim to bring you another batch of Hallowe'en / Horror-related audio series from the plethora of petrifying podcasts that have been released in recent years - any of which can be streamed to your TV via the magic of Roku media players - so, let's dim down those lights... for more audio frights! :-O ;-) :-D

If you read my special hallowe'en blogathon preview - FOUND HERE - that I published seven days ago, then you'll know I plan to post one Hallowe'en / Horror related article every day, throughout the month of October, featuring an assortment of links to various podcasts beginning with the same letter of the alphabet each and every day. For the sake of simplicity, I decided to begin this series of blog posts with the letter 'A' on 'Day One', followed by letter 'B' on 'Day Two', letter 'C' on 'Day Three', and so on and so forth, right the way through to letter 'Z' on 'Day Twenty-Six'. Obviously that will still leave five more days worth of posts, by the time we reach the end of the alphabet, so I'll put my thinking cap on (between now & then) to (hopefully) come up with some extra audio "treats" for you by then. With thirty-one posts of the most spook-tacular sounding series I can find, between now and the end of the month, you'll have lots of great choice for your listening pleasure as we count the days to Hallowe'en, as well as plenty of spine-tingling thrills & chills 'twixt now and All Hallows' Eve on October 31st! :-D

For my seventh post in this series I'm going to share some links to a similar number of audio "treats" as there were yesterday, and (once again) they're all from the general spectrum of horror and the paranormal, but the unifying "trick" (sic) is that the title for each of these podcast series begins with the letter 'G' - although some artistic licence has been taken to ignore "The", when used at the start of the title, so as to avoid having to post too many links for letter 'T' on 'Day Twenty' of this month-long blogathon. So, without further ado, here are my suggestions for Hallowe'en / Horror-related podcast series... the titles for which all begin with the letter 'G' of the (horror) alphabet:-

Generation Why: released its first episode in 2012 and pioneered the true-crime genre in the world of podcasting. Aaron & Justin, break down theories and give their opinions on unsolved murders, controversies, mysteries and conspiracies. Described as "The Horror Podcast Ripped From the Headlines", in which two friends (plus the occasional guest) discuss unsolved killings, cruel calamities, and cult-like conspiracies. This podcast covers many interesting and unforgettable crimes, with each of the stories being very well constructed, although only a minimal sense of terror is conveyed in the narrative… on account of the crimes being discussed much like contemporary news stories. As such the pacing of these episodes is not like your typical horror drama but, rather, an exploration of the crimes, violence, and gruesome goings-on that surround us! :-O ;-) :-D

The Girls in the Back Row: is a horror-cast brought to you by Kate and Tab… which is unfortunately no longer updating, but very good (TIP: the "Audition" episode is a great place to start!). Brought to you by the team at Fangoria's podcast network, the titular "Girls in the Back Row" (i.e. Kate and Tab) describe themselves as "the kind of girls your mother warned you about!" Not to worry... they're very welcoming, and they certainly know their stuff, as they dive head-first into horror cinema and fill-in the gaps in each other's knowledge. Once a month they compare & contrast two or more thematically similar films, making it a good source of horror movie recommendations. The girls also helm the 'House of Psychotic Women' blog series: a week-by-week analysis of how women and mental illness are depicted in the genre. These write-ups are detailed, fascinating and often deeply personal.

Anyhow, that's all I've got time for today... but do remember to come back again tomorrow, for my next batch of petrifying podcast recommendations, when I will provide even more links to further audio "treats", only next time they'll be titles that begin with the letter 'H' of the (horror) alphabet, for 'Day Eight' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku". Once again you will be able to listen to them all through one of the various channels on your Roku streaming media player(s) which were outlined in my 'Special Hallowe'en Blogathon Preview' post, that was published on the last day of September. Meanwhile... please be sure to visit the "Countdown To Hallowe'en" website and show your support for this annual online Hallowe'en extravaganza PLUS don't forget to use the links you find there and check out all the other 'Cryptkeepers' taking part this year. I know they'll appreciate it, if you visit their blogs and share your thoughts on the contribution(s) they've made! ;-) :-D

ONE LAST THING, BEFORE I GO: Don't forget that, aside from the Hallowe'en / Horror-themed ghastliness going on around these parts for the next month, you can also keep up with the UK Roku action (as it happens) by checking-out my regular 'Weekly RoundUp' posts each weekend where you will find up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related is posted on a weekly basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
