Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts On Roku - Day 22: Horror Series Beginning With The Letter 'V' !!

Greetings, Boils & Ghouls...

... and welcome to 'Day Twenty-Two' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku" where I aim to bring you another batch of Hallowe'en / Horror-related audio series from the plethora of petrifying podcasts that have been released in recent years - any of which can be streamed to your TV via the magic of Roku media players - so, let's dim those lights... for some more audio frights! :-O

If you read my special hallowe'en blogathon preview - FOUND HERE - that I published twenty-two days ago, then you'll know I plan to post one Hallowe'en / Horror related article each day, throughout the month of October, featuring an assortment of links to various podcasts beginning with the same letter of the alphabet every day of the month. For the sake of simplicity, I decided to begin this series of blog posts with the letter 'A' on 'Day One', followed by letter 'B' on 'Day Two', letter 'C' on 'Day Three', and so on and so forth, right the way through to letter 'Z' on 'Day Twenty-Six'. Obviously that will still leave five more days worth of posts, by the time we reach the end of the alphabet, so I'll put my thinking cap on (between now & then) to (hopefully) come up with some extra audio "treats" for you by then. With thirty-one posts of the most spook-tacular sounding series I can find, between now and the end of the month, you'll have lots of great choice for your listening pleasure as we count the days to Hallowe'en, as well as plenty of spine-tingling thrills & chills 'twixt now and All Hallows' Eve on October 31st! :-D

For my twenty-second post in this series I'm going to share links for a (slightly) lower amount of audio "treats" than there were yesterday, and (again) they'll all be from the general spectrum of horror and the paranormal, with the unifying "trick" (sic) being that the title for each of these podcast series will begin with the letter 'V' - but, instead of claiming "artistic licence" over the use of the definite article "The", as I've been doing with some of the podcast titles in many of my previous posts from this month-long blogathon... I'll be applying it to the indefinite article "A", at the start of the title! :-D Anyway, with that minor caveat now clarified, here is my next list of Hallowe'en / Horror-related podcast series... the titles for which all begin with letter 'V' of the (horror) alphabet:-

A Very British Horror: is a horror podcast series, produced by Chris Denton and Paul Monk, devoted to the joys of British Horror in TV & Film. Hosts Paul and Chris take an irreverent look at Brit horror (both good and bad) from 'Hammer Horror' to 'Ghostwatch' and beyond! :-) In case you're wondering why I used their 'Podbean' page, by way of a link to an official website, it's because they let not one, but two previous attempts at a website fall by the wayside. The first was on 'Blogger', which they kept updated from 2014-2015, before a switch was made to 'Wordpress' and that lasted from 2015 to 2017, but there has been nothing since. The only constant, in all that time, has been their main podcast host and although it's possible to listen through various other sources (see links below) their allegiance to 'Podbean' throughout their (somewhat chequered) existence is why I elected to use 'Podbean' as their "official website" for the purposes of this post. Wherever you choose to listen to it, you will soon learn that Chris and Paul's approach is to take a (fairly) light-hearted look at the genre... and it's all done in a "Very British" way. So join them, as they brew themselves a cup of tea, don some slippers, dim the lights, and stay up way past their bedtime, to scare themselves silly... or not! ;-) :-D

Video Palace: is an horror podcast series inspired by a pseudo-urban legend, which was created for the horror streaming service 'Shudder' by Nick Braccia and Michael Monello, that mixes the kind of retro nostalgia found in "Stranger Things", with the technical paranoia of "Ringu", to great effect. It follows a video collector, named Mark Cambria who after watching a mysterious VHS tape, begins talking in his sleep using a language that doesn't exist. Believing it to be one of "The White Tapes" - fabled VHS cassettes that, when watched, can drive the viewer insane - Mark sets out to investigate the tape's origin, along with his girlfriend Tamra, but they soon find themselves caught up in a web of conspiracy, the occult, and an element of dread surrounding a legendary video store which turns out to have a sinister purpose, way beyond imagining! :-O Directed by Ben Rock who, along with screen writer Bob DeRosa, also penned the series... it features the vocal talents of Chase Williamson, as well as Devin Sidell, along with some outstanding original music by Michael Teoli - gripping stuff! :-D ;-)

Anyhow, that's all there is for today... but do remember to come back again tomorrow, for my next batch of petrifying podcast recommendations, when I will provide some more links to further audio "treats", only next time they'll be titles that begin with the letter 'W' of the (horror) alphabet, for 'Day Twenty-Three' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku". Once again you'll be able to listen to them all through one of the various channels on your Roku streaming media player(s) which were outlined in my 'Special Hallowe'en Blogathon Preview' post, that was published on the last day of September. Meanwhile... please be sure to visit the "Countdown To Hallowe'en" website and show your support for this annual online Hallowe'en extravaganza PLUS don't forget to use the links you find there and check out all the other 'Cryptkeepers' taking part this year. I know they'll appreciate it, if you visit their blogs and share your thoughts on the contribution(s) they've made! ;-) :-D

ONE LAST THING, BEFORE I GO: Don't forget that, aside from the Hallowe'en / Horror-themed ghastliness going on around these parts for the next month, you can also keep up with the UK Roku action (as it happens) by checking-out my regular 'Weekly RoundUp' posts each weekend where you will find up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related is posted on a weekly basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
