Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts On Roku - Day 05: Horror Series Beginning With The Letter 'E' !!

Greetings, Boils & Ghouls...

... and welcome to 'Day Five' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku" where I aim to bring you another batch of Hallowe'en / Horror-related audio series from the plethora of petrifying podcasts that have been released in recent years - any of which can be streamed to your TV via the magic of Roku media players - so, let's dim down those lights... for more audio frights! :-O ;-) :-D

If you read my special hallowe'en blogathon preview - FOUND HERE - that I published five days ago, then you'll know I plan to post one Hallowe'en / Horror related article every day, throughout the month of October, featuring an assortment of links to various podcasts beginning with the same letter of the alphabet each and every day. For the sake of simplicity, I decided to begin this series of blog posts with the letter 'A' on 'Day One', followed by letter 'B' on 'Day Two', letter 'C' on 'Day Three', and so on and so forth, right the way through to letter 'Z' on 'Day Twenty-Six'. Obviously that will still leave five more days worth of posts, by the time we reach the end of the alphabet, so I'll put my thinking cap on (between now & then) to (hopefully) come up with some extra audio "treats" for you by then. With thirty-one posts of the most spook-tacular sounding series I can find, between now and the end of the month, you'll have lots of great choice for your listening pleasure as we count the days to Hallowe'en, as well as plenty of spine-tingling thrills & chills 'twixt now and All Hallows' Eve on October 31st! :-D

For my fifth post in this series I'm going to share some links to a slightly fewer audio "treats" than the last few days, though (once again) they're all from the general spectrum of horror and the paranormal, with the unifying "trick" (sic) that the title for each of these podcast series begins with the letter 'E' - although some artistic licence has been taken to ignore "The", when used at the start of the title, so as to avoid having to post too many links for letter 'T' on 'Day Twenty' of this month-long blogathon. So, without further ado, here are my suggestions for Hallowe'en / Horror-related podcast series... the titles for which all begin with the letter 'E' of the (horror) alphabet:-

Earbud Theater: is an anthology of original audio dramas in the vein of classic series like "The Twilight Zone" and "Outer Limits". Casey Wolfe's 'Earbud Theater' is a flash-fiction radio theatre podcast that's been around since 2012 and plays on some of the stylings of classic radio theatre. It's run by veteran creatives from film and television, who set-out to show that you can stimulate minds without big budgets and eye candy. 'Earbud Theater' has a feeling of "The Gray Area", as opposed to something like "Welcome to Night Vale" (i.e. it's a show that initially feels episodic, then quickly turns into a serial), but without a thread of mystery, which helps free the content from any restraints. Most are one-off pieces of flash-fiction and as such (unlike standard audio dramas) there isn’t time to establish an arc, or slowly develop character; instead, each production has to deliver a riveting plot & interesting characters in just one episode. Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror - It's All In Your Head! :-O ;-) :-D

End Of Days: Winner of the 'Bronze' medal for 'Best True Crime Podcast' at the British Podcast Awards 2019, 'BBC Radio 5 Live' mini-series, 'End Of Days', tells the story of David Koresh: the prophet whose 'Branch Davidians' cult in Waco, Texas preached an apocalypse... and also of the thirty Britons (from London, Nottingham and Manchester) who were taken in by him! :-O Hosted by Chris Warburton, BBC radio presenter and also host of the "Beyond Reasonable Doubt?" series of podcasts, 'End of Days' looks at events leading up to a siege of the 'Branch Davidians' compound, by police and the military, which culminated in the deaths of 76 people (with Koresh among them) in a fire. It covers the recruitment process, what led them to travel to Waco, and what happened when they got there... illustrating how easily ordinary citizens can be fatally deceived by such "prophets", who lull people into a (false) sense of comfort, by promising them a new life & eternal happiness! :-O

Anyhow, that's all I've got time for today... but do remember to come back again tomorrow, for my next batch of petrifying podcast recommendations, when I will provide even more links to further audio "treats", only next time they'll be titles that begin with the letter 'F' of the (horror) alphabet, for 'Day Six' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku". Once again you will be able to listen to them all through one of the various channels on your Roku streaming media player(s) which were outlined in my 'Special Hallowe'en Blogathon Preview' post, that was published on the last day of September. Meanwhile... please be sure to visit the "Countdown To Hallowe'en" website and show your support for this annual online Hallowe'en extravaganza PLUS don't forget to use the links you find there and check out all the other 'Cryptkeepers' taking part this year. I know they'll appreciate it, if you visit their blogs and share your thoughts on the contribution(s) they've made! ;-) :-D

ONE LAST THING, BEFORE I GO: Don't forget that, aside from the Hallowe'en / Horror-themed ghastliness going on around these parts for the next month, you can also keep up with the UK Roku action (as it happens) by checking-out my regular 'Weekly RoundUp' posts each weekend where you will find up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related is posted on a weekly basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
