Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts On Roku - Day 03: Horror Series Beginning With The Letter 'C' !!

Greetings, Boils & Ghouls...

... and welcome to 'Day Three' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku" where I aim to bring you another batch of Hallowe'en / Horror-related audio series from the plethora of petrifying podcasts that have been released in recent years - any of which can be streamed to your TV via the magic of Roku media players - so, let's dim down those lights... for yet more audio frights! :-O ;-)

If you read my special hallowe'en blogathon preview - FOUND HERE - that I published three days ago, then you'll know I plan to post one Hallowe'en / Horror related article every day, throughout the month of October, featuring an assortment of links to various podcasts beginning with the same letter of the alphabet each and every day. For the sake of simplicity, I decided to begin this series of blog posts with the letter 'A' on 'Day One', followed by letter 'B' on 'Day Two', letter 'C' on 'Day Three', and so on and so forth, right the way through to letter 'Z' on 'Day Twenty-Six'. Obviously that will still leave five more days worth of posts, by the time we reach the end of the alphabet, so I'll put my thinking cap on (between now & then) to (hopefully) come up with some extra audio "treats" for you by then. With thirty-one posts of the most spook-tacular sounding series I can find, between now and the end of the month, you'll have lots of great choice for your listening pleasure as we count the days to Hallowe'en, as well as plenty of spine-tingling thrills & chills 'twixt now and All Hallows' Eve on October 31st! :-D

For my third post in this series I'm going to share some more links to another large amount of audio "treats", again in the form of various podcasts from the spectrum of horror and the paranormal, with the unifying "trick" (sic) that the title for each of these podcast series begins with the letter 'C' - although some artistic licence has been taken to ignore "The", when used at the start of the title, so as to avoid having to post too many links for letter 'T' on 'Day Twenty' of this month-long blogathon. So, without further ado, here are my suggestions for Hallowe'en / Horror-related podcast series... the titles for which all begin with the letter 'C' of the (horror) alphabet:-

Campfire Radio Theater: is a modern audio drama horror anthology podcast, for the iPod generation, in which horror radio rises from the dead! John Ballentine and the team round him have created many dark audio tales since this anthology series began in late 2011. Running at around half an hour each, these stories range between original content (Hungry Hollow, Night Delivery), the reworking of popular stories and myths (The War of the Worlds, The Philadelphia Xperiment), and some horrifying new takes on real life events (RIP, Ghosts of Flannan Lighthouse). Thrill to the twisted chills of a modern horror anthology, fully dramatised and sound-scaped in the tradition of terror classics such as 'Nightfall' and 'Lights Out'! Latest updates and behind-the-mic info can be found on social media via both Facebook and Twitter (see links below) Can you hear the fear? DISCLAIMER: We can't be held responsible for any hauntings or demonic possessions occuring as a result of listening to this podcast!

Case File: Because sometimes the truth is way scarier than fiction! 'Casefile True Crime Podcast', or simply 'Casefile', is a weekly (sometimes fortnightly) true-crime themed podcast that first aired in Australia in January 2016. It is produced by Mike Migas and hosted by an Australian man who remains anonymous. The theme music was composed by Mike Migas with Andrew Joslyn. This podcast series deals with solved or cold criminal cases, often related to well-known murders and serial crimes. Many early episodes relate to Australian cases (e.g. Port Arthur or the Snowtown murders), although notable crimes from the UK and the USA are increasingly featured, and well-known cases from other countries have also been included. Unlike a number of similar podcasts, the series is scripted and narrative, relying primarily on original police or mass-media documents, eyewitness accounts, and interview or public announcement recordings. Larger and more-complex cases have received multiple-week serialised broadcasts, and case updates to previously aired cases are also provided from time to time. The series has been well received, and has won a number of awards since its debut, incl. Best of 2016 (iTunes), as well as the CastAway 2017 Australian Podcast Award, along with the Discover Pods award for Most Innovative Podcast (2017), plus further awards from Off the Charts (2017) and Podcasts (Best of 2018) [Source: Wikipedia].

The Cult Classic Horror Show: Conversations you've always wanted to have about the cult classic horror movies you love. Hosted by twin brothers Danny and Scotty Bohnen, the two bring us great content with a monthly theme.  The podcast is relatively new, but they release content weekly and are very entertaining. The guys talk a little bit about current news in horror but mostly spend the show discussing a couple of movies from their current theme. Includes exclusive interviews with actors, directors, super fans and anyone else they can get their hands on! They dig deep and divulge all the dirty 'behind the scenes' secrets for the nerdiest of conversations. The show also gives the fans a good way of interacting with the hosts to try to become their weekly “Freak of the Week,” where they get to earn free swag as well as get a chance to join the two of them on the show. All you Horror Freaks have to do is sit back & relax while you enjoy the games, the gossip and the giveaways. They had a great run of a few episodes on 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre' franchise that comes highly recommended! :-) ***WARNING: Viewer discretion is advised!*** :-O

Anyhow, that's all I've got time for today... but do remember to come back again tomorrow, for my next batch of petrifying podcast recommendations, when I will provide even more links to further audio "treats", only next time they'll all be titles that begin with the letter 'D' of the (horror) alphabet, for 'Day Four' of "Abe R. Rant's Guide To Petrifying Podcasts on Roku". Once again you will be able to listen to them all through one of the various channels on your Roku streaming media player(s) which were outlined in my 'Special Hallowe'en Blogathon Preview' post, that was published on the last day of September. Meanwhile... please be sure to visit the "Countdown To Hallowe'en" website and show your support for this annual online Hallowe'en extravaganza PLUS don't forget to use the links you find there and check out all the other 'Cryptkeepers' taking part this year. I know they'll appreciate it, if you visit their blogs and share your thoughts on the contribution(s) they've made! ;-) :-D

ONE LAST THING, BEFORE I GO: Don't forget that, aside from the Hallowe'en / Horror-themed ghastliness going on around these parts for the next month, you can also keep up with the UK Roku action (as it happens) by checking-out my regular 'Weekly RoundUp' posts each weekend where you will find up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related is posted on a weekly basis (well, almost).
