A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku - Day #19 WILL IT BE FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD... OR, FRIGHTFUL HALLOWE'EN FARE ON YOUR TABLE BY OCT 31st ?!!!

Welcome back, Boils & Ghouls !!

There's now less than two weeks to go in the Countdown To Hallowe'en 2013... but there's still time for twelve more posts before my month-long blogathon, "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku", comes to an end on October 31st. If you missed the previous instalments, earlier this month, the series began with details of a Hallowe'en ScreamSaver, complete with it's own spooky soundtrack, followed by a Roku channel dedicated to Vintage Horror Classics, then some Hallowe'en "How-To" videos, a Roku channel for fans of the paranormal and then another for devotees of independent horror. After that came a channel dedicated to the open discussion of UFO's and UFO-related activities plus a further selection of Cult Films, Sci-Fi Classics & Vintage Horror. Since then, we've provided details of a Roku channel brimming with creepy cocktail suggestions, another with more classic Hallowe'en movie choices, and then details of a Roku channel that mixes paranormal reality tv shows with powerful documentaries, mysteries, conspiracy theories, UFO's and plenty else besides. The next two instalments saw yet more Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy movies on one channel plus some Hallowe'en / Horror-themed music, courtesy of a Roku radio channel, on another. We then brought you details of a live-streaming horror channel, to add yet another dynamic to the Hallowe'en entertainment on your Roku players plus some close encounters of the third kind, courtesy of a Roku channel dedicated to the subject of aliens and UFO's. Add to that two more Roku channels bringing fresh selections of Sci-Fi & Horror Movies plus more "Halloween Horror" films, then another channel with a bunch of J-Horror, K-Horror and every other kind of Asian horror that you can imagine, together with another helping of vintage horror and you're bang up-to-date with what we've done so far !!

Still, here we are with just twelve days to go until Hallowe'en !! By our reckoning, that means it's time to start planning the menu for your spooky soirée. So, with that in mind, we're making Hallowe'en hospitality the main focus for today's Roku channel details, to help you put together your beastly buffet full of frightfully fiendish foodstuffs and devilishly delicious desserts, that can be washed down with your pick of the poisons from your wonderfully wicked wine cellar. Suffice to say that, if you're partial to novelty nibbles of a Hallowe'en variety, then you'll definitely want to add this channel to your macabre menu planning, as you prepare the H(orr)ors d'oeuvres in readiness for Hallowe'en !!

In case you were not already aware, this food-based Roku channel can be found in the, erm... "Food" genre (i.e. category) of the Roku Channel Store in all regions. Generally speaking, 'iFood.TV' provides a collection of over 40,000 trustworthy & practical food videos for all tastes. There are recipes for all kinds of foods from Appetizers & Entrées, to Drinks & Desserts, from Easy to Gourmet, with Holiday Specials, Kids' Meals, Cakes, Pizza, Salads & Pasta plus all types of cuisine from Indian to Chinese, to Mexican, Italian, Thai or Vegetarian. These "How-To" style videos can even be used to improve your mixing and baking skills to such a frighteningly good level, that it could leave your Hallowe'en party guests in shock and awe, as they marvel at your culinary talents !!

Obviously, having multiple genres to choose from (shown as "Categories"in the main menu) as part of the 'iFood.TV' channel for Roku means not all of the included content is relevant to this post. However, the inclusion of a 'Search' function (found under "Categories" in the main menu) means that it is very easy to whittle down the list, by sticking to our general theme, and enter the word "Halloween" as a search term, to obtain a set of results that are specific to our requirements.

Now, ordinarily, you'd use an original Roku remote to enter text via the on-screen keyboard shown:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing !!

Although, if you've tried that method previously, you'll know that it can be a bit fiddly (not to mention overly-cumbersome) to "type" your search term  into the required field. For this reason, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you enter the required text USING THE FREE ROKU REMOTE APP for either iOS (if you have an Apple mobile device) or Android, since the keyboard for touch-screen mobile devices are (generally) far easier to use than the directional buttons on a remote control when it comes to typing. If you have yet to install the Roku app on your mobile device, you can download them easily by using the relevant link(s) below:-

If you have an Apple mobile device (running iOS 4.3 or later)...

Or, for those of you with Android mobile devices (running Android 2.1 and up)...

Even if you don't intend using the app(s) with this particular channel, I would urge you to go ahead and download them anyway because of the increased functionality they offer over the original Roku remote(s). You could also find that the app makes using your Roku streaming media player a far easier (yes, that is possible) and, not to mention, all together more enjoyable experience, too !!

Anyway once you've entered the search term, "Halloween", and then hit the on-screen 'Search' button to perform the task, you should then see an extra line appear at the top of the main menu (above where the "Categories" are listed) which says, "Searched Results For: Halloween". Beneath this will be a list of instructional videos for food recipes that will be suitable for serving at any Hallowe'en party (assuming your guests don't have any allergies to the ingredients, of course!). As of the date of this post, searching for "Halloween" food recipes via the 'iFood.TV' channel gave a total of fifty Hallowe'en recipe videos to choose from, as follows:-

Given that there are still 12 days until Hallowe'en 2013, we thought that this would allow ample time for you to try any, or all, of these frightful food recipes before deciding on which one(s) to serve to your guests (or to liven up your own menu) come 31st October 2013. That said... AS ALWAYS, when it comes to the consumption of food, PLEASE REMEMBER TO EAT RESPONSIBLY !!

With that in mind... and NOT that we're suggesting you do BUT even if you were to test four frightful food recipes, from this collection of "How-To" videos, per day between now and the end of the month, that should provide you with ample opportunity between my daily doses of Roku-related Hallowe'en horror in "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku" to find the most ghastly grub for your fiendish festivities while, at the same time, helping to improve your mixing and baking skills in the build-up to your own humdinger of a Hallowe'en (H)extravaganza (sic) !!

Meanwhile, according to the channel description for the 'iFood.TV' channel, taken from the Official Roku Website, the channel was developed for Roku by Future Today Inc. (which happens to be the company behind iFood.tv). If the name sounds familiar to you, it could be because they are also responsible for the development of the 'Drinks [by iFood.TV]' channel on Roku player, which was featured on day eight in this series of posts, as well as the 'FitYou' channel and the UK-ONLY Roku food channel 'Bollywood Masala' plus MANY OTHER FAMILIAR FOOD CHANNELS from the Roku channel store(s) IN ALL REGIONS. Should you need to contact Future Today Inc. (the developer of the 'iFood.TV' channel) you can easily do so via the iFood.tv Twitter Feed: @ifoodtv or else, get social through: iFood.tv (Facebook). Of course, you can always find out more about Future Today Inc. by visiting the Official iFood.tv Website VIA THIS LINK, where you will find their full contact information PLUS details of their other associated websites.

Those of you who wish to add this channel to the Hallowe'en-themed entertainment on your Roku player(s) are going to have to do so by navigating to the "Food" genre (i.e. category) from within the Roku Channel Store on your streaming player(s). The reason for this is that the ACCESS CODE for this channel REMAINS UNKNOWN, having yet to be made public via any of the usual sources. Sadly this means that, if you are unable to access the Channel Store on your device at this precise moment, you will not be able to add the channel by simply LOGGING-IN to your Online Roku Account, scrolling down to the 'Manage Account' section, and using the "Add a Private Channel" option to take care of things using an ACCESS / VANITY / INVITATION CODE. Sorry about that !!

Anyway, that's pretty much all there is to it, except to point out that  the 'iFood.TV' channel has been given an average score of "3.5 out of 5" from 765 ratings (so far) in the channel store description from the Official Roku Website. That statistic alone should be reason enough to give this a try, never mind the fact that ALL VIDEOS ARE FREE-TO-WATCH too !!

Having said that, if this particular Hallowe'en / Horror themed Roku channel was not to your liking then FEAR NOT because there will be another one featured in tomorrow's post, continuing the month-long blogathon that is: "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku"which will bring you more devilish delights EACH AND EVERY DAY from now UNTIL HALLOWE'EN and when you're done with this blog, don't forget to visit the other contributors to the 2013 Countdown To Hallowe'en and see what Hallowe'en treats they have in store for you between now and 31st October !!

Fangs again, for stopping by !!
