Welcome back, Boils & Ghouls...
... to 'Day Sixteen' of "Alucard's Bat-tastic Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku" and to the third instalment of "Fiendish Food Friday" in which I aim to recommend some "scary starters", "macabre mains" and "devilish desserts" plus an assortment of (ahem) "finger food", to make it easier for you to cater to the ghoulish guests at your spooky soirée this Hallowe'en season !!
So, if you're planning to host your own ghastly gathering on October 31st, you should take some time to PLAN YOUR HALLOWE'EN PARTY FOOD NOW as there's ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT from tomorrow until Hallowe'en itself... I KID YOU NOT !!! So, rather than leave your ghoulish guests to go hungry during your fiendish festivities READ THIS POST for the mother-load (or should that be "mummy-load"?!) of inspirational ideas on how to conjure-up some tasteless treats (sic) to fuel the zombie horde and pile your plates with ghastly grub & ghoulish goodies for Hallowe'en !!
As I've been saying for the past couple of weeks... the great thing about entertaining at Hallowe'en is that you can really let your imagination run riot and things can still be really simple, as well as creative, and it's pretty easy to come up with some creepy creations that will feed your ghoulish guests without too much trouble! I also said, even if you did happen to get a bit stuck for ideas, you'd still be able to find plenty of inspiration among the one hundred or so channels which populate the "Food" category of the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. Well... time is now running out and, if you haven't sorted out your menu yet, you're going to need a crash course in catering for Hallowe'en along with a hailstorm of ideas... so, with that in mind, we're making the main focus for today's Roku channel one that will help you put together a beastly buffet, full of frightfully fiendish foodstuffs and devilishly delicious desserts, that can all be washed down with a pick of the poisons from your wonderfully wicked wine cellar. Suffice to say that, if your guests are partial to novelty nibbles of a Hallowe'en variety, then you'll definitely want to add this channel to your macabre menu planning, as you prepare the H(orr)ors d'oeuvres in readiness for Hallowe'en !! All you need to do, between now & then, is spend some time watching a selection of recipe videos on Roku !! Sound easy?! Then CHECK OUT THE "iFood.TV" ROKU CHANNEL, the details for which are outlined below:-
iFOOD.TV.............................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]
If you haven't already got it in your channel selection, you can easily add it to your Roku player(s) using the recently introduced 'Roku Search' feature. Just start typing "iFood" into the text entry box within 'Roku Search' and it will soon appear in the results column on the right. In fact, you will (most likely) only have to enter the letter "i" before it pops up! For those who prefer to look it up the old-fashioned way, you'll find "iFood.TV" listed among the "Food" channels in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store - itself, found by navigating to 'Streaming Channels' from the home screen and scrolling through the options - then click "OK" to access the list of "Food" channels where you will see the (above) channel icon. It's completely FREE-TO-ADD as well as being FREE-TO-VIEW so, once you've located it in the list of channels, just click the "OK" button on your Roku remote to select it and then click "OK" again where it says 'Add channel' to install it on your Roku player(s). Having done that, it's simply a case of launching the channel via the 'Go to channel' option and navigating the on-screen menu to access the "Halloween" section. TIP: Just four or five short presses of the directional arrow marked "DOWN" (on your Roku remote) should be enough to reveal the sub-menu for the "Halloween" section at the bottom of your screen. From there, use the "LEFT" and/or "RIGHT" directional arrows on your Roku remote to scroll through the video recipes until you see an video recipe which catches your eye. Again, use your Roku remote to select an Halloween recipe, that has tempted your taste buds, then click "OK"to play the video and watch the tutorial & see how it is made.
A QUICK TIP: When watching the Hallowe'en video recipes on "iFood.TV", it's worth keeping the Roku remote handy to pause and rewind, if necessary, as well as a pen and paper to make your own notes about the procedure as you go along. Having said that, there's usually plenty of detail to be found within each video just by navigating the on-screen menu to bring up details such as lists of ingredients and preparation / cooking instructions which you can call-up on screen while you watch each video.
ALSO: Please bear in mind that THERE ARE IN EXCESS OF 125+ RECIPE VIDEOS for you to choose from in the "Home: Halloween" section alone so, even though it might show only 20 videos when you first launch the channel, you will soon discover that there are a lot more recipes than you may first have thought! Generally, you will find that the number will increment every time you approach the on-screen limit until you reach the last of the available videos. This usually means adding a further twenty videos each time (e.g. the total displayed will change from 20 to 40 to 60 to 80, etc, etc.) and it will then wraparound, when it reaches the end, and start scrolling through again.
To give you some idea as to what's available, there is a list (below) of all the Hallowe'en video "food" recipes that were listed when I last checked the channel, as of the date of this post. You will find that there are several "creepy cocktail" recipes thrown into the mix which will increase the total number of videos but, since I'll be outlining those another time, I'm only listing "food" and not "drinks" recipes. Anyway, here is what's (currently) listed food-wise in the "Halloween" section of "iFood.TV":-

PHEW! Hopefully that should be enough to keep you going between now and Hallowe'en but be sure to leave enough time to actually cook the food and not spend all of it watching videos on Roku !!
Meanwhile, according to the channel description for the 'iFood.TV' channel, taken from the Official Roku Website, the channel was developed for Roku by Future Today Inc. (which happens to be the company behind iFood.tv). If the name sounds familiar to you, it could be because they are also responsible for the development of the 'Drinks [by iFood.TV]' channel on Roku player, which was featured on day eight in the "Countdown To Hallowe'en" for 2013, as well as the 'FitYou' channel and the UK-ONLY Roku food channel 'Bollywood Masala' plus MANY OTHER FOOD CHANNELS from the Roku channel store(s) IN ALL REGIONS. Should you need to contact Future Today Inc. (the developer of the 'iFood.TV' channel) you can easily do so via the iFood.tv Twitter Feed: @ifoodtv or else, get social through: iFood.tv (Facebook). Of course, you can always find out more about Future Today Inc. by visiting the Official iFood.tv Website VIA THIS LINK, where you will find their full contact information PLUS details of their other associated websites.
Finally, to round-off this third instalment of "Fiendish Food Friday" on 'Day Sixteen' of the annual 'Countdown To Halloween', I thought I'd best remind you (once more) how NOT to approach your pumpkin carving, thanks to this short clip by a very well-known "celebrity chef" from Sweden...
REMEMBER: DON'T BE A 'MUPPET'... chainsaws are for texan-style massacres at the movies, so be sure to carve your pumpkin(s) carefully using something better suited to a task such as this !!
Anyway, that's all for today... just remember to come back in 24-hours for 'Day Seventeen' and more Hallowe'en-themed content, courtesy of "Alucard's Bat-tastic Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku", when I will reveal your next helping of horror for "Silver Scream Saturday", and (again) this time next week for another "Fiendish Food Friday" as we continue our "Countdown To Hallowe'en" 2015...
Fangs (as always) for reading !!
