FREE-TO-STREAM: "Guava Island" (2019) - STARRING: Donald Glover & Rihanna - FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY!

Just a quickie... to let you know, presumably by way of a tie-in to Childish Gambino's appearance at 'Coachella' this weekend, Amazon has made "Guava Island" available for FREE to anyone who can access the internet. The new Amazon Studios original movie, which has a running-time of just under one hour, can FOR A LIMITED TIME be viewed with NO PRIME MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED via either the Amazon UK webpage for "Guava Island" by clicking on the blue "Watch Now for Free" button or, from a UK Roku user perspective, by using the channel (app) for 'Prime Video' which can be found in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store, under 'Streaming Channels' from the main menu.

In addition to the Childish Gambino connection... this film, about an island-based musician trying to put on a music festival while being kidnapped and dating Rihanna, also features more of those epic dance moves by Donald Glover - remember the video for "This is America", anybody? - and, by way of coincidence, was directed by Hiro Murai... who also worked with Glover for "Atlanta" - a series on 'FX' that Donald Glover created, as well as starred in - along with the afore-mentioned music video.

"Guava Island" also stars Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie for what is a vibrant & atmospheric romp around the streets of Havana, with Glover gambolling between crowds, parades and gangs like he is on some sort of urgent personal mission. Although, at the beginning of the film, he is more subdued and reflective... as he strums his guitar, while pondering his surroundings, before observing that:

“We live in paradise, but none of us actually have the time or the means to live here."

What follows, if you are familiar with his previous work, is nothing short of what we have come to expect from Glover and, in my opinion, well worth an hour of anybody's time. Of course, being an Amazon Original, this film will likely be available to 'Prime' members for as long as they continue to subscribe... but, for everybody else, I suggest you watch it for free while you can (i.e. today) or, if you are reading this later than Saturday 13th April 2019, maybe take advantage of a 30-day free trial membership to 'Prime Video' which will enable you to watch this and everything else the streaming service has to offer. It's cheaper than 'Netflix' or 'NOW TV' and has tons of great content to stream!

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
