Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #251

Hi, everyone !!

As you might expect in the week which immediately follows the festive period, as we lead-up to the new year, there have (once again) been zero new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store and very little of interest in terms of either Roku-specific (or even Roku-related) news during the past 7 days. In fact, there is only one significant piece of Roku news that I have to share with you...

Following the announcement from Roku, which came via an official press release on Wednesday 27th December 2017, we would like to pass on our congratulations to Scott Rosenberg who will become GM of Platform Business beginning in January 2018... and bid farewell to five-year Roku veteran and leader of content and services, Steve Shannon, who will leave the company at the end of this year. In case you were not aware, Scott was Vice President of Business Development for Roku, Inc. and, having already overseen Roku’s advertising business, he will now also lead content distribution and related services for the company. Meanwhile, Steve joined the Roku team in 2012 to lead the (then) new content and services group and was instrumental in establishing new industry relationships, building their exceptional content offering, and growing distribution revenues for the Roku platform. As a trusted industry veteran, Steve grew what was once a small team into a vital part of the platform business. Steve also hired and developed senior talent who are leading key priorities today, including recruitment of the afore-mentioned Scott Rosenberg [Twitter Feed: @ScottRinNYC]. Roku CEO, Anthony Wood, went on record to say of the out-going veteran: "Steve joined Roku in the early days of our monetization strategy and was instrumental in developing key advertising, content and services initiatives as well as recruiting top talent like Scott”, before going on to add: “We are grateful for the contributions Steve made and wish him the very best as he moves on to his next great adventure”.

Anyway, aside from the above news item, the forthcoming New Year celebrations have meant that my 'Weekly RoundUp' post is somewhat lacking in content compared to normal. On the plus side, this has given me more time to spend with friends & family over the festive period... something for which I am very grateful (although, I'm not sure they would all say the same!) ;-) Nevertheless, please accept my apologies for the brevity of this article and remember that the channel publishing blackout at Roku remains in force until Wednesday 3rd January 2018, so I'm not expecting next week to yield a bumper crop of new channel additions, either - although, all being well, with a few days back at work before my next 'Weekly RoundUp' is published, I'm hoping for (at least) a few new apps. If not, I'll do my best to find some more special offers to tide everybody over until whatever comes our way at CES 2018. In the meantime, keep an eye on the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels for any UK Roku bargains that I come across in the January Sales and anything else I manage to find! ;-)

Meanwhile, I'd like to wish you all a "Happy New Year" & all the best for 2018 - have a good one! :-)

*********************************************

As mentioned previously, you can expect my usual summary of all the goings-on (or not) in the (severely restricted) "Roku-Powered" App Store that features on NowTV Boxes to follow in the near future. Meanwhile, whether you happen to own a Roku player, a NowTV Box, OR BOTH, as I do... be sure to check my earlier posts (as mentioned before) for all the new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in each of the one hundred and seventy-seven preceding weeks and then come back again in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp'. However, if you can't wait that long, remember you can always keep up with all the UK Roku action (as it happens) throughout the coming week, by following the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels where up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis (well, almost).

Thanks to each and every one of you, for reading this blog... and remember: we'll be back soon with more Roku-related news and updates for you in the next post - so, don't stay away for too long! ;-)

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
