For my twenty-first instalment in this series of posts I'm going to suggest a British-Australian film, that was directed by Christopher Smith, and first released in 2009 under the original title of 'Triangle' and is a tense psychological horror thriller that will really get you thinking. Based on a story written by the director, who is also known for 'Severance' and 'Creep', it has a rather unique concept which (at the time) set it apart and pretty much turned the psychological thriller genre on it's head. The film centres around Jess (Melissa George) who, having set sail on a yacht with a group of friends, can't shake the feeling of impending doom... or, at the very least, that something is wrong. Her suspicions are soon realised, when the yacht encounters a storm in the Bermuda Triangle and the group is forced to seek safety aboard a passing ocean liner. Oddly, the ship appears to be deserted... but, Jess remains convinced that she has been on board the vessel before. Anyway, it's not long until the realisation hits them that they are not alone... and that "someone" is intent on hunting them down, one by one! :-O
If you haven't seen the film before, here is a brief taster in the shape of an original trailer for this most excellent psychological thriller, courtesy of 'GraveofHorrorMovies' and their 'YouTube' channel:-
If you'd like to know more... there's a full list of the cast & credits on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) listing for "Triangle" (2009), FOUND HERE, which also includes a full storyline / plot summary as well as box office stats, technical specs & much more. For die-hard fans, there's even more info to be had from the Wikipedia Page for Christopher Smith's "Triangle" (2009) which is available VIA THIS LINK, and may help to fuel your appetite for (yet) another screening. Although, if you're as much of a fan of this mystery fantasy thriller as I am, or happen to enjoy psychological horror in general, it probably won't take too much persuading for you to watch this again! ;-) :-)
Finally, to round-off this twenty-first instalment in my month-long blogathon on 'Day Twenty-One' for this edition of the 'Countdown To Halloween', here's more FRIGHTENINGLY FUN FILM FACTS... for example: did you know that the film is set in Miami (Florida, USA) but was actually filmed entirely on location in Queensland? Additionally, both Florida and Queensland are known as "The Sunshine State"; a nickname used on a road sign in this film. To save yourself the trouble of going all the way to Queensland, those interested can see the actual set of the ship at Southport Spit, Queensland, Australia using Google Earth: the exact coordinates are -27.97293,153.426902 ;-) :-)

Anyway... you probably guessed already but, if not, this film (like the others from this series of posts) is also available via the 'Shudder' streaming service and can be easily viewed on any Roku device via their dedicated channel (app) for these streaming media players. There are other opportunities for UK viewers to see "Triangle" (2009), including another free-to-stream option for 'Prime Video' members through 'Amazon Video' which can again be enjoyed on Roku through the 'Amazon Video' channel. If you're not a 'Prime' member, there are also multiple purchase options from 'Amazon UK', so feel free to simply "Rent" for £0.99 in 'SD' or 'HD' quality (it's exactly the same price for either one) or else, you can "Buy & Keep" this movie - either in 'SD' quality at just £2.99 or 'HD' quality for £3.99 - the choice is entirely yours... but, having said that, I would suggest you look for possible free alternatives before parting with any money, because there may be some free sources online offering file formats compatible with Roku. However, as my idea for this month-long blogathon was to suggest thirty-one Hallowe'en / Horror themed movies from 'Shudder UK', I'm recommending you stream it there! ;-)
If you haven't already added it to your channel selection, you will find "Shudder" listed among the "Film & TV" channels in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. You can easily add it to your Roku player(s) by navigating to the built-in 'Channel Store' (accessed via "Streaming Channels" from the home screen on your Roku device) and scrolling through the options until you see the channel icon (pictured above). It's completely FREE-TO-ADD so, once you've located it in the list of channels, just click the "OK" button on your Roku remote to select it and then click "OK" again where it says 'Add channel' to install it on your Roku player(s). Having done that, it's simply a case of launching the channel via the 'Go to channel' option and navigating the on-screen menu to log-in (if you already have an account, but haven't yet done so) or start your free trial (if you are new to the service) and, once you see 'Shudder TV' playing on the screen, just push the "DOWN" arrow on your Roku remote to get to the main menu... from where you can "Search" for "Triangle", and then press "OK" on your remote to select and 'Play' this psychological horror thriller which, for the record, runs to 1h 39mins.
LINK TO WATCH 'Triangle' (2009) VIA 'SHUDDER UK' WEBSITE
Unfortunately for Roku users in the USA and Canada, it appears this film is not (currently) available for streaming via the 'Shudder' service in either country... although, there are options to rent the film (which can then be streamed on Roku via the 'Amazon Video' channel) for those in the United States. The current cost of renting "Triangle" (2009) via the 'Amazon Video' service in the United States is USD $2.99 for 'SD' quality and USD $3.99 for 'HD' quality. Although the "Buy & Keep" pricing for this film is somewhat high, being USD $9.99 (SD) and USD $11.99 (HD). As for Canadians, the rental options for this movie are (once again) few and far between, at least as far as being able to enjoy the film on Roku is concerned. That said, as I've suggested in other posts from this series, there could well be one or two other streaming resources for you to use, so it might be best to check for any free alternatives before paying to watch this. As always, if you get stuck trying to find a good source, message me via Twitter: @ukrokuchannels and I'll see if I can sort you out with a link! ;-)
Meanwhile, for that full cinema experience, here's a few of the other film posters that movie-goers in 2009 (and more recently) would have encountered depending on their location around the world:

Other interesting tidbits of trivia include the fact that this film contains many oblique references to "The Shining" (1980). For example, the number '237' crops up, which was the same number of the spooky hotel room Danny was forbidden to enter, and; there are also words written on a mirror; a ballroom, and; an axe features prominently in the film. Also, the recording of "Anchors Aweigh" used in this film was performed by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra. In what was often considered to be a "Bermuda Triangle"-type incident, such as that in "Triangle" (2009), the aircraft which was carrying Glenn Miller to Paris in December 1944 mysteriously disappeared over the English Channel! :-O
