Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #125

Hi, everyone !!

As with a previous post, from around one month ago, I recently found out that I would also be absent when the regular publishing deadline for this 'Weekly RoundUp' post came to pass. Since things went relatively well on that previous occasion, I've decided to (once again) make use of Google's "Schedule" feature to auto-publish this article on Saturday 1st August, while we are away. Essentially, the list you see here (when this post is first published) will comprise only those channels which were added up to & including Thursday 30th July 2015 with the remaining new additions (subsequently listed in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store on either Friday 31st July or Saturday 1st August 2015) to follow sometime next week. In any event, the remaining channels and the overall total of new additions (by genre) plus any "missing" links to channel store descriptions and/or 'Roku Guide' reviews will have been made known to you before the next 'Weekly RoundUp' post on Saturday 8th August.

For now, here's a list of what was made available prior to my departing for another much-deserved and hard-earned long weekend break with my nearest and dearest:-

WAC LIVE..........................................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

PLEASE NOTE:- That, for those who may be unfamiliar with the 'WAC Digital Network' or their 'WAC Live' channel for Roku devices, this content provider offers it's viewers both LIVE STREAM and ON-DEMAND VIDEO of MANY SPORTING EVENTS & TOURNAMENTS, including: track and field, tennis, soccer, golf, and cross country, all of which feature student athletes from the member schools which comprise the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) - CSU Bakersfield, Chicago State, Grand Canyon, Missouri-Kansas City, New Mexico State, Seattle University, UTRGV, and Utah Valley. My personal thanks and A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO 'WAC Digital Network' for adding their Roku channel (at my request) to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store when (previously) it was only available to Roku owners in North America. Hope you enjoy all the FREE-TO-VIEW sporting action on offer... if so, please look them up online via the various links in the 'Roku Guide' review and say "THANK YOU" for extending their video content archive & live feeds to UK sports fans! ;-)

VID ANGEL...COST: FREE-TO-ADD + RENTAL / PURCHASE FEES [Roku Guide Review]

PLEASE NOTE:- That, although this 'VidAngel' channel is FREE-TO-ADD to your Roku device(s), ADDITIONAL FEES MUST BE PAID in order for you TO VIEW ANY OF THE CONTENT that is available for purchase / rental through the 'VidAngel' streaming service.

ALSO:- It is worth mentioning that this video streaming service works in a different way than most, by requiring that the FULL PURCHASE PRICE MUST BE PAID UP-FRONT FOR EACH FILM and you THEN "SELL BACK" THE MOVIE TO PAY ONLY A SMALL "RENTAL" FEE if you choose not to "keep" or "own" the film(s) you have purchased. In practice, this means you must pay out (on average) $15.00 USD (U.S. Dollars)) to $20.00 USD in the first instance to watch a movie. Provided you watch it within 24-hours of "purchase", you have the option to "sell back" your movie (within that same 24-hour period) for a partial "refund" which means you will only end up paying for the 24-hour "rental" period at a cost of $1.50 USD (for SD, i.e. Standard Definition, rentals) or around $2.00 USD (for "HD", i.e. High Definition, rentals). Whichever method you choose for making your initial payment, YOUR "REFUND" WILL COME BY WAY OF "CHANNEL CREDITS" that can be used for future purchases and YOU WILL NOT GET AN "ACTUAL" MONETARY REFUND!

While this may be a good option for those who may otherwise have paid separately for a movie rental before paying-out a second time to purchase the (rented) film, so as to keep their own copy of it... there is the potential for some - who "forget" or are "too late" to sell their movies back to 'VidAngel' - to be stuck owning a movie they did not want. SO, PLEASE BE VERY AWARE THAT... IF YOU DO NOT "SELL BACK" YOUR MOVIE WITHIN 24-HOURS YOU THEN OWN THAT COPY !!

If this still sounds odd, or my explanation is unclear, I recommend you check out the 'Roku Guide' review of this 'VidAngel' channel (SEE LINK ABOVE) as it includes an 'YouTube' video explaining "How 'VidAngel' Works for Movies". Additionally, the 'Roku Guide' review has details of how to "link" your Roku device(s) to a 'VidAngel' account & the easiest ways to sign-up for that account. ;-)

MET OPERA ON DEMAND......COST: FREE (7-DAY TRIAL) + $14.99 (MONTHLY) [Roku Guide Review]

PLEASE NOTE:- That, although this 'Met Opera On Demand' channel is FREE-TO-ADD to your Roku device(s) and does include an FREE 7-DAY TRIAL PERIOD with which to assess the benefits of subscribing, AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $14.99 PER MONTH WILL BE REQUIRED in order for you TO CONTINUE VIEWING ANY OF THE CONTENT ONCE THE TRIAL ENDS !!

As with the 'VidAngel' channel above... YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT unique to this channel AS WELL AS TO "LINK" YOUR ROKU DEVICE(S) TO THAT ACCOUNT in order to make use of the free trial and/or any subsequent subscription to this channel. Those who do subscribe, but then later decide to cancel, will need to do so via the "Official" Metropolitan Opera website - FOUND HERE - to avoid further charges being applied to their credit card. Otherwise, all subscription charges will continue on a monthly basis, until cancelled.

Again... the 'Roku Guide' review (SEE LINK ABOVE) contains further details, plus additional links, to even more information about the 'Met Opera On Demand' channel. There is also an HD-quality video trailer for the 2015-16 season at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York for those interested. As always, I recommend that you read the 'Roku Guide' review prior to adding the channel. ;-)

US VIRGIN ISLANDS CHANNEL.......................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

CREATION STATION...........................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

DROPBOX..............................................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

WOODSIDE BIBLE CHURCH.............................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

*********************************************

Anyhow, like it or not, that is your lot for now... with the remaining new channel additions from this past week, plus any "missing" links to channel store descriptions and/or 'Roku Guide' reviews, to follow once we return from our long weekend away. As I said before, this will most likely mean you having to wait until Wednesday 5th  July (at the earliest) for the "missing" info to be added. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you in the meantime but, with any luck, things should be back on track before my next 'Weekly RoundUp' post in around one week from now! ;-)

Until then...

That's all folks !!
