Following on from the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT in my 'Weekly RoundUp' post of two weeks ago, that 'Hisense' were to be the first TV manufacturer to join the new 'Roku TV Licensing Program' in Europe - with the added promise that their range of R7 Series 'Roku TV' models would launch in the UK by the end of this year - there was EVEN MORE GREAT NEWS for UK Roku users during the last seven days when Roku announced, via press release, on Thursday 19th September 2019 that there is to be a refresh of the streaming player line-up which will see the range expanded to a choice of three Roku models: including a re-designed 'Roku Express', plus; the brand new 'Roku Premiere', bringing the cost of 4K streaming with HDR down to less than forty pounds, alongside; the existing 'Roku Streaming Stick+' which (itself) will see a (further) reduction in the MSRP from £59.99 down to £49.99, having originally been marketed in October 2017 with an asking price of £79.99, meaning the flagship Roku model will be NEARLY 40% CHEAPER TO BUY than when it first launched! :-D
In terms of availability and pricing, Roku indicated in their press release (see link above) that their 2019 Roku streaming player line-up will be available in the UK beginning early October from Argos, Currys, Asa, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Amazon UK, and other fine retailers, at the following price-points:
- Roku Express: £29.99
- Roku Premiere: £39.99
- Roku Streaming Stick+: £49.99
However, those wishing to pre-order either the re-designed 'Roku Express (Model: 3930EU)' or the brand new 'Roku Premiere (Model: 3920EU)' can do so already via the 'Amazon UK' website. Those looking to purchase the top-of-the-range 'Roku Streaming Stick+ (Model: 3810EU)' will find that a price reduction to £49.00 has already been applied by 'Amazon UK', as well as 'Currys/PC World'. As can be seen from the above MSRP's, for the 2019 Roku UK streaming player line-up, this is already lower than the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for their flagship model. Also, while Roku stated "early October" for these models to be available in the UK, the 'Amazon UK' product pages for both the 'Roku Express (Model: 3930EU)' and 'Roku Premiere (Model: 3920EU)' indicate a release date of 27th September 2019 - as evidenced by the screenshots below - and (perhaps) best of all... that's barely one week away, so there's even less time to wait for these new models! :-D

Of course, given the past history of streaming player line-up changes by Roku, the United Kingdom was not the only country and/or region (in which Roku products are officially marketed and sold) to be treated to an announcement concerning the availability of new Roku streaming products this week. As you might expect, there were further press releases for Roku customers in both the United States and Canada with the latter getting equivalent models to the UK, while Roku customers in the U.S. were also treated to a re-vamped version of the 'Roku Ultra (Model: 4670R)' incorporating new features, such as: faster channel launch (largely due to expanded memory and a faster processor), and; an improved remote with two (customisable) personal shortcut buttons, plus the addition of a mute button alongside the volume up/down buttons on the side of the controller. There were also some store-exclusive additions to the range of Roku models offered by 'Walmart' and 'Best Buy', with the former getting the 'Roku Express+ (Model: 3931RW)' plus the 'Roku Ultra LT (Model: 4662RW)', while the latter adds the 'Roku Streaming Stick+ HE [Headphone Edition] (Model: 3811R)', including notable savings (albeit with minor caveats, in terms of having lesser features) when compared to their full-priced variants. Those wishing to know more about these US-only Roku streaming player line-up changes will find details in the U.S. press release, while the Canadian press release also includes info about some live linear TV channels which are now available via 'The Roku Channel' in Canada! :-D
Readers from other countries and/or regions (in which Roku products are officially marketed & sold) may be feeling somewhat left-out at this point but, thankfully, there was more good news concerning "International Availability" buried inside the main press release from the United States, whereby it was also confirmed Roku is expanding it's streaming player line-up internationally in the Republic of Ireland and select countries in Latin America, where the redisigned Roku Express, and the brand new Roku Premiere, plus the Roku Streaming Stick+ are expected to be available in the coming weeks! :-)
If I get a chance, during the next few days, I'll endeavour to publish more details about the new Roku line-up coming to the UK via a separate post... to flesh-out what else I've learned from the details I've discovered online about the re-designed Roku Express and the new Roku Premiere model(s), so keep an eye on this blog for that, if you're considering the purchase of one (or both) of those new models. Meanwhile, as is often the case whenever new Roku products are launched, there was also one more announcement from those ever-industrious folk at the 'Roku Newsroom' this week, with the news Roku OS 9.2 is on the way... bringing new 'Search & Discovery' features, as well as enhanced 'Voice' functionality to the Roku platform. Again details came via an additional press release on Thursday 19th September 2019 but, although it was announced that OS 9.2 will start rolling out to Roku devices "in the coming weeks", there was no specific mention as to whether (or not) this would include the UK (at this time), or if/when we might expect the United Kingdom roll-out to begin. Past circumstances would suggest that we will get the new software sometime (perhaps even months) after they start updating devices in the United States, but (as always) it could well vary from one user to the next, as well as from one device type to another... so my advice would be to just "wait & see", and I'll be sure to keep you updated (via this blog) whenever I hear of anything UK-specific! ;-) :-)

If you are a new 'NOW TV' customer, you might wish to consider one of the other special offers or pass bundles - e.g. for Sky Cinema, Entertainment, etc. - when you first register for your 'NOW TV' account, and then claim the sports pass offer (using the voucher code above) once you are already subscribed through another offer/bundle and, therefore, qualify as an "existing" customer for the sports pass. It's better to do it that way... because, if you signed-up as a new customer through the sports pass offer, you would no longer be eligible for the new customer deals among the other special offers and/or pass bundles. So, if you think you're likely to want Movies, Entertainment, and Sports (or any combination thereof) be sure to sort-out the Movies and/or Entertainment pass(es) when you first sign-up for 'NOW TV' and then add the Sports pass to your account after the fact. Moving on from Roku-related news to the equally important matter of listing all the latest additions to the channel store, while it doesn't quite match the number of new channels released last week, I'm pleased to say that we have, nevertheless, had ANOTHER HUGE CROP OF NEW CHANNELS to boost the UK Channel Store total. To wit, ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN NEW ROKU APPS have been added to the already vast selection of more than eight thousand which populated the channel store this time last week. This means we have now been blessed with a little over three thousand eight hundred and fifty new apps, during a period of just thirty-eight weeks, any of which UK Roku owners can add to the individual selection of apps installed on their device(s). So, assuming you are not still reeling from the shock of new Roku models coming to the UK next week - which (itself) is a lot to take in - let's now focus on listing all those one hundred & sixteen new Roku apps for you! :-)
Before I get into the current list of channels, however, I would just like to point-out that the ongoing issue of "missing" reviews from the 'Roku Guide' website appears to have worsened (yet again) since my previous article for this blog. Over the last thirty-eight weeks, my 'Weekly RoundUp' posts have seen a total of 3,855 new channels added. Meanwhile, the number of 'Roku Guide' reviews being published during that time has continued to fall short of the mark. Quite how they managed to only produce 21 reviews, with just ten from the current week; five more from last week, and; one that featured in my 'Weekly RoundUp #339' post from two weeks ago; along with five US-only channels, when there were upwards of 116+ new Roku channels released in the past seven days, is beyond me! Unfortunately, this cannot be seen as being an exception to the rule... because, digging through their archives, it soon becomes clear that this has been happening all too frequently. Looking at all of the articles they've published since the start of the year, there has been a total of only 1,007 new reviews added to their website. With a minimum of one hundred and six "missing" reviews from the last week they remain more than seventy percent short of where they should be and, if this continues, there could be hundreds (if not thousands) more Roku channels with no corresponding independent review for me to provide a link from each of the 'Weekly RoundUp' posts on my blog. I hope this shortfall is addressed soon because, as mentioned 34 weeks ago, the current situation isn't good for anyone connected to Roku: be they end-users, developers, bloggers like myself, or even Roku - whose platform provides the very source from which 'Roku Guide' compile their reviews! :-O
Still, back to the list... which, as always, will help you to identify the very latest apps that have been added to Roku devices in the UK. Other websites offering Roku channel listings will base their contents on the Roku USA Channel Store, which means they also include apps that are unavailable to UK Roku users. So, like I've said before... if you really want to know what's available channel-wise, for owners of Roku devices in the UK, you need to be reading this blog each and every week! ;-) :-)

PLEASE NOTE:- The use of the (mis-spelled) word "clasic" (rather than "classic", as you'd expect) in the title assigned to this 'horror clasic channel' for the Roku platform, is down to the developer of this app and not a "typo" on my part. Given they have used the correct spelling of "classic" in their description of the app, as well as for the channel icon (aka 'HD Poster' image) of the app, I feel it is safe to assume their use of "clasic" (sic) when naming their Roku channel was likely to have been an error / oversight on their part. Until such a time as this mistake is corrected (if at all) you would do well to remember this peculiarity when using the cross-platform 'Search' feature built-in to your Roku device(s) to find and install this app, especially once it's removed from the 'Just Added' category! ;-)

PLEASE NOTE:- That, as evidenced by the title shown on the channel icon (aka 'HD Poster' image) for this latest app from developer 'megadilla', the name by which it ought to have been represented in the Roku Channel Store is most likely "The Ultimate Action Concentration" and I can only assume there was some issue with the character limit for naming channels that led to the title being cut short. If you ask me, they'd be better-off dropping "The" from the front-end, to allow the extra space for "ion" to be added to the end of "Concentrat" - making the title "Ultimate Action Concentration" rather than "The Ultimate Action Concentrat" - but, to each their own, as the saying goes! ;-) :-)

PLEASE NOTE:- That this 'Email Marketing - Segmentation' channel should not be confused with an earlier Roku channel release, by the name of 'Modern Email Marketing', which was featured as part of my 'Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #337' post just over a month ago. Were it not for the difference in their unique channel store identifiers I could (as with other apps by this developer) have easily written this off as an existing app, believing that it was nothing more than an updated version of the 'Modern Email Marketing' channel, which had been re-submitted to the channel store among the other 'Just Added' Roku apps. Instead we see yet another example of multiple apps, each bearing the 'TV.AllSuper.Info' label, with similar content - further "spamming" the channel store - just like many others in recent months. Unfortunately Roku has yet to put a stop to their shenanigans! :-(

Were it not for the difference in their unique channel store identifiers I could (as mentioned above) have easily written this off as an existing app, believing that it was nothing more than an updated version of the 'Navigating Paleo Diet' app, which was re-submitted to the channel store among other 'Just Added' apps for the Roku platform. Instead we get more app clones, each with the 'TV.AllSuper.Info' label, all offering similar content and serving no purpose other than to further "spam" the channel store! :-/

Were it not for the difference in the unique channel store identifiers I might (as mentioned above) have easily written this off as an existing Roku app, believing it was nothing more than an updated version of that earlier 'Bitcoin Profit Secrets' channel, which had been re-submitted to the channel store as part of the usual weekly glut of 'Just Added' apps for the platform.
